Hong Kong customs has urged the public to keep an eye on a drawing board toy, saying it is safe for children to stop being exposed to the toy because of a potential risk of intestinal obstruction.
It is reported that customs and excise department staff purchased children's drawing board toys from retailers and sent them to the hksar government laboratory. The results showed that the magnetic strength of its tiny magnet assembly exceeded the upper limit of the toy safety standard. If swallowed by a child, there is a potential risk of intestinal obstruction.A total of 175 sets of drawing boards toys were seized from retailers and wholesalers and investigations are still under way.
Under the toys and children's products safety ordinance, any manufactures imports or supplies unsafe toys or children's products is liable on first conviction to a maximum fine of hk $100,000 and to imprisonment for one year.
